Crack open a regionally brewed beer today while area folk musician Mason Brown performs at Prospero's Books (1800 West 39th Street, 816-531-9673). Brown's instrumental repertoire includes banjo, guitar and viola da gamba (a stringed instrument like a violin but bigger — it rests on the knee as it's played). Brown will sing tonight, too, during a CD-release party for his new album, When Humans Walked the Earth. The free concert starts at 6 p.m. According to the Prospero's Web site, Weston Brewing will provide the complimentary beers.
