Some days, everything is against you from start to finish. There are ways of dealing with this — keeping your door locked, curling into a ball on the couch and watching daytime television, for instance. But that's too much of a bummer. Instead, how about reverting to a childlike state of wonderment for a few hours? Try the Kansas City Kite Club's Flights of Fancy, from noon to 4 p.m. on the lawn of Metropolitan Community College's Longview Campus (500 Southwest Longview Road in Lee's Summit). There will be kite making, an inflatable maze, face painting, balloon artists, a candy drop, and kite races. Also: educational attractions on green energy and wind power. See mccflightsoffancy.org.
