Like vinyl, VHS is a charmingly antiquated format, beloved by collectors because some great works never made the transfer to disc. (For example, 1979's Skatetown, U.S.A., in which Scott Baio tries to reason with roller-skate-gang leader Patrick Swayze, circulates only through bootleg videotapes.) Unlike vinyl, VHS is inferior to next-generation options in terms of quality. But the '80s enthusiasts in BaioWolf don't mind sacrificing a little visual crispness for the novelty of the retro format. At 7 p.m. at Love Garden Sounds (936 1/2 Massachusetts in Lawrence, 785-843-1551), BaioWolf releases the VHS tape 2K Science in tandem with the digital unveiling of its latest electro-thrash album, Hella Gnar Gnar! YouTube artist Musov Shoko (search for his disturbing "Fantastic Hey Hey Hey" clip) shot all the live footage, suggesting that 2K Science might offer fans more than just stage shots, kinda like how Styx's transferred-to-DVD concert video Caught in the Act opened with an insane Mr. Roboto mini movie.
