There was a time when the American biker was considered a terrifying outlaw — drunk and violent, burning down the interstate and, if you were lucky, not stopping in your town. Some of today's riders use that dangerous old image to help people. Example: Kansas City's Bikers for Babies. According to the group's Web site, Bikers for Babies raised more than $630,000 in its annual ride to benefit the March of Dimes last year — more than any March of Dimes motorcycle ride in the country. Come help the bighearted riders do it again today during a fundraiser event at Fathead & Braindeads Saloon. Activities include a wet-T-shirt contest, a dunk booth, music, raffles, a slow-ride outdoor obstacle course, and games with awesome names such as "Weenie Bite." The festivities start at 11:30 a.m. at Fathead & Braindeads (514 Main in Grandview, 816-761-6060). Prices vary depending on what game or raffle you want to enter, but there's no cover until 8 p.m., when the Uncle Jam band gets under way and the cost is $5. See fatheadandbraindeadssaloon.com for more information.
