You don't have to go much beyond your front door to encounter nature, even if you live in an urban area. Today's event at Lakeside Nature Center focuses on the birds that live around us. During Celebrate Urban Birds, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can go on a bird walk, visit learning stations, see birding presentations, do bird crafts and take home a wildflower seed that might attract a bird to your yard. The event is part of a national study by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. For more information, see www.CelebrateUrbanBirds.org.
