Law ChangersBy Crystal K. WiebePublished on May 27, 2009 at 2:03amReally educated, supremely powerful men discriminate. That's painfully obvious in author Fred Strebeigh's book Equal: Women Reshape American Law. As with almost every other profession, it took women a long time to break into the field of law, and they remain under-represented in courtrooms and law firms today. Through interviews with lawyers, judges (including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg), litigators and plaintiffs, and by researching personal archives, Strebeigh presents a history of women's fight for fairness inside the legal system. Strebeigh will talk about his book tonight at the Central Branch of the Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library (14 West 10th Street). The event starts at 6:30 p.m., following a 6 p.m. reception. RSVP by calling 816-701-3407or see kclibrary.org/rsvp/4964.
