Fiesta may imply a Mexican party, but this weekend, a totally different ethnic group has latched onto the word for its alliterative value. With Fiesta Filipina, the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City honors Philippine independence from noon to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Filipino Cultural Center (9810 West 79th Street in Overland Park). Admission costs $2 (kids 12 and younger are free), and the shindig features Filipino food, music, games, arts and crafts, and dance. Call 913-269-4497 or see filipino-association.org for more info.
