Things that slither, slide and stick out their tongues to smell are the subject of herpetologist David Nieves' obsession. He was intrigued by reptiles from an early age and has converted that interest into a career. In 1990, Nieves created the Reptile Education and Research center, a facility dedicated to the study of reptiles and amphibians from around the world. Today at 9 a.m., he'll share the love of scaly critters with children at the Johnson County Museum of History.
