Didn't you know? Your office's IT guy knows Ophelia's monologues from Hamlet by heart. That cute girl in your yoga class twirls tassels from a pair of pasties like it ain't no thing. And your neighbor can twist her body into human origami while suspended from a swath of fabric tied to the ceiling. At the Fringe Fest, you're bound to run into acquaintances with talents you never suspected. Tonight's Fringe Cocktail Party is a sampler platter of some of the acts showcased during the weeklong music, art and theater fest happening July 19-26. Preview performances by BOOM, an International Lost & Found Family Marching Band led by UMKC professor Stephanie Roberts; Burlesque Downtown Underground; and the casts of two original plays: Lysistrata & the Death of Cupid and Advice From a Spider. Also on tap: drinks, dancing, a silent auction and ... Twister. It all starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until midnight at 508 West 75th Street, west of Wornall in the Waldo neighborhood. Suggested donation at the door is $20. For more information, see kcfringe.org.
