This summer more than ever, families could use a break from economic woes. So wouldn't it be great if the phrase "free family fun" meant exactly that? Enter the Pilgrim Chapel Summer Concert Series, which teams up with the Hyde Park Children's Film Festival to offer families a ton of entertainment in exchange for absolutely nothing. Every Friday through July 24 in Hyde Park (36th Street and Gillham), the series presents a free concert by a local music act, supervised activities for kids, an Indiana Jones movie, prizes and refreshments. The series premieres tonight when singer-songwriter Danny Cox performs at 7:30. Also, amateur herpetologists and intrepid bystanders will enjoy a program featuring nonpoisonous, nonaggressive snakes. Then, at 8:30 p.m., Indy takes to the big screen in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Bring blankets and folding chairs. For more information, see pilgrimchapel.org or call 816-753-6719.
Fridays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: July 3. Continues through July 24, 2009
