It's impossible to think about Chris Isaak without getting the refrain of "Somebody's Crying" stuck in your head — the prototype for all his best mournful, brokenhearted yowls about the women who've done him wrong. Alternately, you might picture the chisel-faced singer rolling in the sand with Helena Christensen in the clip for "Wicked Game," a perpetual favorite on VH1 countdowns of all-time sexiest music videos. Ever since he appeared on the music scene more than 20 years ago, with his pompadour and his Roy Orbison-y croon, blue-eyed Isaak and his music have felt timeless. His latest album, Mr. Lucky, came out earlier this year; in addition to writing the songs, the singer, who also moonlights as an actor, drew the album art. See Isaak at 8 tonight at the VooDoo Lounge at Harrah's North (1 Riverboat Drive in North Kansas City, 816-889-7320) for $55-$70.
