Ever heard of a 50/50 raffle? Corvette enthusiast Dean Christian can tell you that it's when you sell a bunch of raffle tickets and, at the end of the day, split the proceeds between whoever holds the winning ticket and some worthy cause. In the case of today's Kansas City Corvette Association's car show at Independence Square (112 West Lexington in Independence), Camp Quality, a getaway for kids with cancer, is the charitable beneficiary. Christian is the chairman for the ninth-annual Corvette show, which he expects will feature about 200 vehicles, including his own 1962 black beauty. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but whatever you spend on T-shirts, silent-auction items and raffle tickets can help make a sick child a little happier.
