In many ways, Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead couldn't be further apart on the musical spectrum. But delve deeper into the roots of each legendary act, and you'll find common ground with such artists as Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, Sonny Boy Williamson and the Beatles. The two bands occasionally crossed paths on the festival circuit, peacefully coexisting among fans who were too high to really tell the difference. (Dude, I can't believe Zeppelin is playing "Scarlet Begonias"!). The forecast calls for peace, love and lots of guitar solos when Kansas City bands Trampled Under Foot and Jah Wheel play the music of Zep and the Dead, respectively, tonight at Crosstown Station (1522 McGee, 816-471-1522). Tickets cost $8, and opener Jonah Smith kicks things off at 9 p.m. Part of the proceeds go to Meals on Wheels.
