The Grand Marquis have been doing a lot of regional touring lately. Stops include Wichita, Lincoln, Des Moines, Omaha, Columbia and next month, they will play the historic Casa Loma Ballroom in St. Louis.
This Friday, Jim Kilroy puts on his Spring Elvis Bash at Knuckleheads Saloon in the East Bottoms. The first Elvis Bash, coinciding with the January 8th birthday of the King, was a success. "I was really surprised at how well the last one went. It wasn't just older people, there were people of all ages there, even young girls," says Frank Hicks, owner of the venue.
The lineup consists of King impersonators Tarry Westley, Bobby Simkins, Rich Vickers from Rolla, Michael Dehghani, Steve Bohall. Shawnee's Voodoo Kitchin' will be playing backup for all these fine tribute artists. Tickets are $10 before the night of the show and $15 at the door for the 8 p.m. show. According to Kilroy, future Elvis bashes are possibly in the works depending on interest. There is a tentative St. Joseph show planned.
And remember, a wise man once said: "Rhythm is something you either have or don't have, but when you have it, you have it all over."
