Right now there are a lot of possible freebies in Kansas City. Below is a collection of some national and local offers. But look closely, many of them expire over the course of the next month.
The madness starts, as it always should, with a cookie. Mrs. Field's celebrates National Cookie Month by giving away a free cookie between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. next Thursday, Oct. 1. You can use it to console yourself in the event that you're unable to win a free candy bar from the Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act, when the first 250,000 people to sign up before noon on Fridays get a coupon for a free Twix, M&Ms, or any bar made by the Mars Candy Company.
Whether you've got your own kids or you're just watching your nieces, Boston Market has a family deal running through October 31. Buy at least $6 worth of food and receive two free kids' meals [via Kansas City on The Cheap].
Papa Murphy's is currently offering $3 off a family size pizza. The coupon is good until next Wednesday. If you still feel like pizza and have an iPhone, the Consumerist notes that you can get a pizza from Pizza Hut for 20 percent off if you order via the chain's new iPhone application.
VisitKC also has a series of printable coupons for local restaurants, including 15 percent off at The Marquee -- the bar/restaurant at the AMC Main Street theater -- and the Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge in the Power & Light District.
And finally, Carlo Rossi -- proud maker of jug wine -- is looking for the "leader of the Carlo Rossi Posse." Unfortunate names aside, the company's putting up $10,000 to help you design "your dream den" in a contest that starts Oct. 1 and runs through November 30. So channel your inner Carlo Rossi, watch some HGTV, and enter at the contest Web site.
