You've probably seen 30-year-old Amanda Taylor in the news already. For a year now, she's been in the process of adopting a two-year-old boy, Isaac, from an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, and she was in Haiti when the earthquake hit on January 12.

Taylor made it back to Kansas City but had to leave her sister, Natasha Rae, and Isaac behind.

She shared the photos that she took the day of the earthquake and the following night and morning with The Pitch.

After the earthquake, injured people began making their way on foot to Sacred Heart, where mattresses were laid outside.

As the hospital was evacuated, more and more people gathered in the parking lot to spend the night.

After dark, the parking lot was lit by generators.

The damage to the parking lot was evident in light of day.
