Earlier this week, KCK police arrested Earl W. West, who has reportedly been charged in the death of Javier Reynoza and who authorities wanted to question about the death of Annicka Martinez.
Reynoza, 37, was shot to death in the 1700 block of Central Avenue on January 2. Wyandotte County prosecutors have also charged 35-year-old Ruben Richardson with second-degree murder in connection with Reynoza's death.
In January, the body of 31-year-old Martinez was found in the trunk of a burned-out car in Lafayette County, Missouri. Police had wanted to talk with her about Reynoza's death.
Earlier this week, someone posting under the name "Family" on our story about Martinez being ID'ed by authorities left a heartfelt comment to Martinez' "friends, acquaintances, associates and ... even enemies." Here is the Comment of the Week:
We say thank you for your words of kindness, love, criticism and yes even those words of hatred, fear and revenge. We feel & hear all your words clear down to our hearts & souls.
Many of you knew & loved Annicka and some of you even hated her,
BUT she WAS a kind hearted person who most often would have bent over
backwards for any of you. Shame on those of you who now can speak such
evil & ill words for her now in death. No matter what she may have
done in this life whether good, bad, right or wrong, whether be your
friend or not your friend, she did not deserve dying in such a horrific
and tragic manner. She was a part of someone's family, not only her own
personal family but was a part of many of your families as well.
We, as her family, knew she was not an angel. Leading the life she did
would only bring heartache & pain to her, and to no avail she is
now gone. In hindsight no one could change her. Many rumors &
stories have flown in & around of the streets of KCK and also the
blogs but the truth will come out and be known to all in time.
Speculation is merely that...Speculation and Truth is Truth. What you
think you know, may not be the truth. Only the ones truly involved know
what happened on that fateful day.
To those of you whom have helped with info in this case, the family
thanks you. To those of you whom have not, that's ok too. We understand
the Code of Silence. However, most of you have helped in some small way
through the rumors, stories, comments & blogs. We believe as a
family that who ever committed this grave crime will receive their just
dues sometime in their lifetime, whether it be through a court of law
& justice or revenge as some of you have stated.
There are no services planned. You will all have to grieve in your own private way as does her family.
TO ANNICKA: You can now rest in peace with out fear. We will miss you
terribly and you will be in our hearts and souls forever. One way or
another justice will be served on your behalf. We will see you again in
another life. Love, your family.
