Kansas City, Missouri, apprehended the suspect in a fatal stabbing at a QuikTrip north of the river on July 4.
Monique M. Walker, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Decarlos Henderson, 30, of Waterloo, Iowa. Police found Henderson bleeding at an apartment building at Northwest 55th Street and Englewood Road. He died at a hospital.
Police suspect that Walker and Henderson were involved in a domestic dispute. Walker was detained at a convenience store near the apartment building after the attack.
The call to police went out at 6:47 a.m. on July 4. The incident capped a violent weekend. Henderson was the fifth homicide victim to surface in a 24-hour period.
Walker is being held in Clay County on a $500,000 bond.
