Rockers, rejoice! Looks like Rockfest is going to be coming back to Penn Valley park next year in 2011, mudslides be damned.

The Kansas City park board today approved a one-year agreement with AEG Live Productions for the annual music festival to occupy part of the park and the grounds of the Liberty Memorial on May 14, 2011.

There was a gigantic hullabaloo following this year's Rockfest, since Penn Valley Park essentially turned into a mud hole. Check out our slideshow of this year's Rockfest here.

More information on the board's decision after the jump.

Kansas City's largest festival -- there were an estimated 55,000 people last year -- will solder on, despite recent controversy:

The new agreement calls for AEG to designate 18,000 parking spaces and to again promise to restore any damage to the turf. There would be no change in the $50,000 fee paid each to the park department and to the Liberty Memorial Association for use of the grounds.

Here's what Rockfest looked like this year. (The title "Mudfest" does seem more appropriate.)
