It's a little less punk and lot more red sauce these days for Marky Ramone, the former drummer for the Ramones. He's got his own pasta sauce now, Marky Ramone's Brooklyn's Own, as he told Manapare.us:
With more chefs taking the stage, perhaps it was inevitable that rock stars would take on the kitchen.
I made it with my grandpa; he was a chef at 21 Club. I watched him as a little boy, and then when I got older, I lived alone at 18, and so pasta sauce and spaghetti was the cheapest thing around. I got really good at making it, and so I am excited I get to share my recipe with others.
Life seems busy for the former punk rocker, who is currently hosting a radio show, starring in a documentary, and getting set to tour with a Ramones tribute band called Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg.
While there's something disheartening about a punk legend holding up a bottle of "pure and natural," pasta sauce in a suburban house wife's dream kitchen of stainless steel appliances and modern oak cabinets, it still beats having Hoobastank as your pitchman.
Proceeds from the sauce will apparently go to an unnamed charity that supports soldiers returning from Iraq or families that have lost loves ones in Iraq. You can order a case of the sauce for $88 from his website, Markyramone.com.
