A few weeks back, Kansas governor-in-waiting Sam Brownback was caught on camera agreeing with a young woman that nutbag apocalyptic
preacher Lou Engle's views concerned him.
The woman missed a golden opportunity to get Brownback to elaborate -- on video, no less. Weeks later, the Kansas Democratic Party has decided to make Engle a campaign issue. According to the Topeka
Capital-Journal, now Brownback won't comment on Engle.
Bravo, Sam, for not throwing Engle under the bus, even if he should be. Must be hard to let the man go after praying
to kill health-care reform with him last year. So we're left to guess what exactly concerns Brownback.
Could it be Engle's premonitions that a "sexual insanity will be unleashed upon the
earth"? Maybe it's Engle's rabid
anti-homosexuality stance, which includes supporting and promoting Uganda's "Kill the Gays" bill? (At least he supported it before he was against it.) Could it be Engle's call for believers to be committed to "martyrdom"? How about his claims of a possible civil war to end abortion in the United States? Or is it as simple as Engle's creepy rocking back and forth as he proselytizes?
C'mon, Sen. Brownback. Explain to Kansans your concerns about this freak show.
