UPDATE: A man wanted in connection with a homicide sparked by a game of Madden football has been arrested. Read the update after the jump ...

John Madden has blood on his hands. People take Madden's series of football games seriously. So seriously that an accusation of cheating may have led to a homicide in Wichita last week.

The Wichita Eagle reports that four men started fighting during a game of Madden football, ending with the death of 22-year-old Luke German.

"Somebody was accused of cheating," Lt. Ken Landwehr told the Eagle.

The fight started outside of the house, moved into the house and then back outside. German's body was found in the front yard of a home in the 3900 block of Roseberry a week ago. He died two days later.

An autopsy showed that German died from "severe internal injuries"  that

were "consistent with being kicked, punched and perhaps struck by a

pipe," Landwehr said.

Wichita police arrested two people and police are searching for 22-year-old Benjamin Redgate, who they suspect of second-degree murder. A man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of helping Redgate escape on a purple, women's mountain bike.

Just another reason to play online.

UPDATE: Police arrested Benjamin Redgate in Larned, Kansas, Tuesday, the Wichita Eagle reported. Redgate was spotted at a local laundry, tried to flee, running across the city's golf course, but was caught, police say. He is accused of second-degree murder.

Redgate's older brother, Christopher, is also charged with second-degree murder.
