Raise your hand if you miss Jose Guillen. Anyone? No. OK. The former Kansas City's Royals new club, the San Francisco Giants, made it to the World Series. But the outfielder isn't on the playoff roster, which the Giants claimed was due to a neck injury. Or could it be that the feds are investigating a link between Guillen and shipments of performance-enhancing drugs?

Ah, yeah, the New York Times reports.

But by that point the Giants had been told of the drug investigation by

the commissioner's office and had been directed to keep Guillen off the

roster, the lawyers said.

The Giants are keeping their mouths shut, although probably cursing the Royals under their collective breaths for the mid-August trade.

As far as the link between Guillen and the shipments, that'd be his wife. The NYT reports that she received shipments of human growth hormone in the Bay Area. Major League Baseball officials learned about the investigation days before postseason play started.

This isn't Guillen's first dance with PED allegations; in 2007, he was accused of buying more than $19,000 worth of HGH, steroids and other

drugs from the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center from May 2002 to June

2005.

Baseball's latest black eye comes as the Giants took a 2-0 lead over the Texas Rangers Thursday night in the World Series.
