Daniel Collins survived a 90-minute slide through Raymore's sewer system. On Monday, the 30-year-old father of three was released from St. Luke's Hospital.
Collins was swept away by raw
sewage gushing at 3,000 gallons
per minute in a Raymore sewer line after somehow becoming untethered
October 12. Emergency workers found Collins in a 27-inch sanitary sewer
near the 15th green at the
Creekmoor Golf Course.
He somehow managed to stop himself in the trap just before the sewer
line went under the lake at the golf course.
Collins was airlifted to St. Luke's and was treated for hypothermia,
severe respiratory failure and pneumonia. At one time, he was hooked up
to a ventilator to help him breathe.
In a city full of bad news, it's good to finally get a happy ending.
