It's either the soda you smoke or the pot you drink. While the tag line isn't yet set, Canna Cola -- the soft drink with THC -- is designed to be sold at medical-marijuana dispensaries.
California artist and entrepreneur Clay Butler talked to The Santa Cruz Sentinel about his plans for the soda line that includes flavors like Doc Weed (think Dr. Pepper), Sour Diesel, Orange Kush, Grape Ape and Canna Cola.
So, what can one expect from Canna Cola? Scott Ridell, the founder of Diavolo Brands, which will be marketing the soda, talked about the beverage's lower THC content (35 to 65 mg) than brands that are currently available on the market:
He likened his product to a "light beer" alongside high-proof liquors. "It's got a mild marijuana taste. But the taste factor is really negligible compared to some competitors with three times the THC. When you get to that level, you really have a heavy aftertaste. While Canna Cola is (not surprisingly) having difficulty navigating the complex state and federal guidelines as well as sourcing suppliers that are comfortable producing a product that features a marijuana leaf made out of soda bubbles on the bottle art, the company hopes to be available in medical-marijuana dispensaries in Colorado in February and California later this spring.
