  • Wesley Watson, it's hoped, is going to prison for life.

Convicted sex offender Wesley Watson pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted rape, kidnapping and aggravated sexual battery. Watson, 55, was accused of posing as a cop, kidnapping

a woman and raping her in the parking lot of a Best Buy on

Parallel

Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, in December.

According to KMBC Channel 9, Watson admitted it all in court on Wednesday.

"I engaged in a conversation with the victim in the Wal-Mart parking

lot," Watson said in court Wednesday. "I talked her into getting into my

car and drove over to the Best Buy. I ordered her to get undressed and

then touched her body. I did that with the intent to have sexual

intercourse."

When the judge questioned Watson further, he said he

had to force the woman into his car and that he attempted to have sex

with the woman, not just having the intent to.

Knowing that this all could have been prevented makes it sickening.

Watson was convicted of attempted rape in

1977 and rape and aggravated assault in 1980. (In one of the rapes, Watson followed a 14-year-old girl home from school,

broke into her home and raped her.)

The Kansas Parole Board granted him parole in January 2009. Sedgwick County authorities tried to have Watson committed

indefinitely as a sexual predator to the Larned State

Mental Hospital, but Watson's defense reportedly

presented two

psychiatrists who testified that Watson wasn't dangerous. They were

wrong, but a Wichita jury deadlocked and Watson was released in January 2010.

The fact that Watson was paroled 30 years early -- he served 30 years of

a 60 year sentence -- is such bullshit.

Watson's sentencing is scheduled for April 1.

Watson is reportedly facing up to life in prison. Let's hope mistakes aren't made again.
