Middle of the Map Fest is just a week away, and local record label The Record Machine is ringing in the spring and festival season with a free show from two of its acts, Minden and Motorboater. Nathan Reusch, co-founder of the label, has been a busy man -- the majority of his label bands are appearing at the Middle of the Map fest, and he also helped curate the two-day event. And he's giving Kansas City a chance to preview some of the acts in advance for free.
The Record Machine crew will take over the Black Bamboo building this Friday as part of April's First Friday art walk, beginning with a short deejay set from Reusch (DJ Nartan). It's an early gig, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Minden (who recently landed a track on national clothing chain Swell's new video for Free People -- check it out below) will follow at 6 p.m, and will feature a new, special-edition lineup with Adam Wagner of the Good Foot on keys and backup vocals. Motorboater will finish out the evening at 6:45 p.m., bringing his signature brand of electronic dreamscape grooves to the art crowd.
The event is free and offers a full bar plus some free swag donated by the Screenland Armour theater. So get there early and get yourself amped up for the Middle of the Map Fest the following weekend. For more information (including directions to Black Bamboo), check out the Facebook event page here.
