Do you have your old trumpet or clarinet from high-school band still sitting in the back of your closet? Did you once have fantasies of becoming the next guitar prodigy, only to discover that you couldn't read a tab to save your life? Or maybe you're just so damn good, you don't need that beginner's bass anymore. Whatever the reason, if you've got an old (or new!) instrument that you don't use or need anymore, we've got just the thing for you to do with it.

In support of the touring Broadway musical Rock of Ages, an epic arena-rock love story featuring the songs of Journey, Whitesnake, Poison, and Styx (among many others), area organizations are teaming up to host an instrument drive this weekend in Kansas City.

The instrument drive, which benefits Jeremy's Cherubs, Meyer Music's Band of Angels, and Guitars for Troops, will be collecting your instruments at two area locations this Saturday. For those of you closer to the 'burbs, stop by Meyer Music at 10122 W. 119th St. in Overland Park from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The crew will also be available from 2 to 6 p.m. in Parkville at the School of Rock, 1315 East Street. All donations are tax-deductible, and you good Samaritans ditching your unused instruments can enter into a drawing for a free pair of tickets to opening night of Rock of Ages here in Kansas City, which takes to the Music Hall stage May 3. You'll also receive discounted ticket prices for the duration of the show's Kansas City run, May 3 through May 8.

For more information, check out the Theater League's blog post on the drive. NPR's Morning Edition also ran a pretty sweet story about Guitars for Troops earlier this year, which you can listen to here.
