Reality programming is begging to resemble a Taco Bell menu. There are only so many ingredients, but inventive marketing guys keep finding ways to package them together in seemingly new ways.

The latest reality smash-up might just star one of this city's own. The Kansas City Star's Aaron Barnhart reports that Stretch (Jeff Rumaner) is the headliner in a new pilot, "Hungry Men at Work," for Spike TV. It sounds like a cross between "Ax Men" and "Food Detectives."

As for the show's content, Barnhart breaks down what viewers can expect:

"Hungry Men at Work" will pair top-flight chefs with men working dangerous jobs around the world. The pilot was shot this winter on the frozen tundra of North Dakota, on the gas-rich Bakken Shale Formation ... plans call for later episodes to be filmed with men fighting wilderness fires and drilling oil in the Arctic.
The show hasn't been officially picked up, but it might not be the only television gig for Stretch. Barnhart theorizes that Stretch is a potential guest expert for another Spike show, "Bar Rescues," which helps flagging bars remake their space and their approach to drink-slinging. It would make sense to introduce Stretch to the Spike audience and then have a spinoff of his own cooking show.

So, Fat City readers, if "Hungry Men at Work" gets picked up, will you be tuning in?
