Add writing thank-you cards at a Weatherby Lake picnic table to the list of things that are illegal in Missouri. Jennifer Payne, 24, found this out a few weeks ago.

Payne was writing thank-you cards in the picturesque setting when the cuffs came out. She was arrested and taken to the station where officers took her mug shot and fingerprints. Payne was charged with trespassing and almost spent a night in the Platte County Jail (her boss bailed her out). A little excessive, don't you think?

KMBC reported that Payne thinks so, and she's fighting the trespassing charge. Yes, there were "private property" signs, but Payne says she didn't see 'em. And she didn't raise a fuss when officers approached her. She offered to leave, but, of course, that didn't happen.

Guessing Payne won't be writing the Weatherby Lake police a thank-you card anytime soon (although the media should).
