Original Story (September 26): One person is dead, and police are looking for a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse after a bizarre dispute on Highway 69.
Overland Park police say 22-year-old Marquise Williams Jr. was killed in a car crash at 119th Street and Highway 69 early Sunday after being involved in a dispute with the occupants of the Eclipse. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Highway 69 when the vehicle that Williams was riding in lost control and crashed into a pole south of 119th Street.
Police say the Eclipse left the scene without stopping. The Eclipse should have damage on the passenger side with a missing passenger-side mirror. It may also have bullet holes in it.
KCTV5 reported that 9 mm shell casings littered the area. The TV station reported that Williams' autopsy showed that he died from injuries suffered in the crash, not gunfire.
If you can help police track down the Eclipse, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. Police say they encourage the reporting of any silver vehicle with passenger-side damage.
