How much pizza can you eat for $5? That's the eternal question, isn't it?

Get your answer on Sunday when Wheat State Pizza (2820 W. 47th Avenue, KCK) kicks off its new Sunday pizza buffet with a $5 buffet promotion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At least you can find solace, on one football Sunday, in an endless supply of slices.

You can’t really overdose on s’mores. Free s’mores and hot chocolate are around the fire pits at Holiday Lights and Festive Sights from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 2, in Mission. See the lights in the historic Mission District along Johnson Drive while waiting for the musical fireworks show at 8 p.m.

Don’t think of Sunday as just a day closer to Monday. Instead, think of it as a chance to enjoy brunch. Hereford House (17244 Midland Drive, in Shawnee) serves brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and those with a sweet tooth might try the vanilla French toast, which comes with two eggs, bacon or sausage, and brunch potatoes ($7.95). Those ready for lunch might try the City Slicker, composed of two eggs, a Belgian waffle, breakfast meat and potatoes ($7.95), or the Stockyard, an 8 oz. prime rib with two eggs and potatoes ($12.95). Biscuits and gravy ($4.95) are also on the menu; after all, this is Kansas City. A Bloody Mary or Mimosa costs $4.

You know what’s impressive? Rolling your own sushi. Learn how at RA Sushi (11638 Ash) on Sunday, December 4, when two RA Sushi chefs show students how in a class class that runs from 2 to 4 p.m. A light lunch of miso soup, edamame and sushi will also be served. Students leave with a sushi-rolling mat and a complimentary lunch card. The class costs $35. Reservations are required, so call 913-850-6260 to reserve your spot.

Find out if you and the Summit Brewing Co. are compatible at the latest edition of Barley Brewhaus' beer school. Barley's at 11924 W. 119th St. is hosting a beer tasting for the brewer out of St. Paul, Minnesota, on Monday, December 5, at 6 p.m. Try the Extra Pale Ale, India Pale Ale, Horizon Red Ale, Winter Ale and Oatmeal Stout. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased in advance. Call 913-663-4099.
