Brunch is the most underrated meal of the week. You're supposed to dine leisurely, catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while, and eat both sweet and savory dishes. Slow Food KC is hosting a brunch at the Farmhouse (300 Delaware, in the River Market) at 1 p.m. Sunday. The reason to circle this on your calendar: the slow-cooked bourbon pork belly with black pepper grits, braised collard greens and a fried egg. Brunch costs $25 for Slow Food members ($30 for nonmembers) and includes a complimentary bloody mary or mimosa.

You may have heard of a pop-up restaurant, but you've definitely never been to a pop-up dinner theater. Neighborhood Café in Lee's Summit is hosting the Summit Theatre Group tonight and tomorrow for a performance of the play Bus Stop. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., and the theater portion commences at 8:15 p.m. The cost is $30 for a ticket to the show, an entrée (meatloaf and pot roast are among the six classic choices), and a piece of pie. Tickets can be purchased online.

Ah, candy and wine, two food groups that were somehow left off the food pyramid. Figure out how to put the two essentials together at Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery (16905 Jowler Creek Rd., in Platte City) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Easter candy and wine pairing puts some of the Jowler Creek wines with jelly beans, Peeps and chocolate eggs. The tasting experience costs $5 per person.

Want to know more about where your food comes from? The Kansas City Food Circle holds large events that are open to the public: its Eat Local and Organic Expos, where more than 35 area farmers and producers gather at a convention hall to talk about growing practices, bulk foods and community-supported agriculture programs. The first is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Shawnee Civic Center (13817 Johnson Drive). The second is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Penn Valley Community College Gym (3201 Southwest Tfwy.).
