Mac Lethal stays winning with his 'Freestyle Breakfast' rap on The Pitch

It's about time somebody realized that Mac Lethal would make a pretty stellar pitchman. The local rapper - who has been having a good year on the heels of a viral hit of him rapping "Look at Me Now" while making pancakes (22 million-plus views on YouTube and counting) - was brought in as the closer for an ad agency attempting to lock down a Subway account on AMC's new reality show, The Pitch.

As part of AMC's attempt to capitalize on the success of Mad Men, The Pitch follows two ad agencies battling for an account on each hourlong episode. The series premieres Monday, April 30, at 8 p.m. (the first episode is currently available online, and Mac Lethal is featured at the 16-minute mark). A Subway TV spot up for grabs. The sandwich franchise is looking for an ad that would appeal to 18- to 24-year-old breakfast eaters. And it's Mac Lethal (discovered via his pancake video) that provides the coup de grace for Durham-based McKinney with his "Freestyle Breakfast" rap (above). Whether the ad actually makes it to your television screen is under "discussion," according to a piece in The Herald-Sun.
