  • Ed Bagley's wife got probation.
Marilyn Bagley pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday for her role in sex trafficking a 16-year-old girl, whom she and her husband, Ed, allegedly kept as a sex slave in the couple's Lebanon, Missouri, trailer. The press release from the U.S. Attorney's office is upsetting, as is the story as a whole (which came out early in 2011).

"By pleading guilty today, Bagley admitted that the victim, identified as 'Female Victim,' or FV,' was subject to sadistic acts of torture that increased in quantity and intensity over a six-year time period. They involved, for example, strangulation, suffocation, breast and vaginal penetration with skewers, and electrical voltage," the release said.

Prosecutors have said that the victim was mentally disabled, and that the Bagleys invited her to move in with them in 2003 when she was still a minor. The couple then trained her to be a sex slave, prosecutors say.

"Bagley taught FV how to do basic things she did not know how to do like dress, eat, wear makeup, cook and clean. Bagley also admitted that she taught FV how to behave as a sex slave. Sadistic acts were conducted on FV, who would be punished if she did not do as instructed," the press release said.

Bagley, 47, will be sentenced to probation, which might seem light. But prosecutors say she was victim of physical and emotional abuse for more than 25 years before the victim moved in. "Her participation in the criminal conduct resulted in the abuse being redirected away from her and to the victim," the office said.

Previously, Marilyn Bagley had come to her husband's defense. She also claimed that the torture and sex with the victim were consensual.

Bagley is the fifth person to be convicted in the horrifying case. The others:

Michael Stokes, 47, first heard of the victim when he was shown a picture of her vaginal opening sewn shut. He pleaded January 5 of this year. He traded steaks, hamburgers, jackets, personalized playing cards, lighters, cigarettes, and cash to have sex with the victim and to torture and watch the victim get tortured. He was sentenced to five years in prison.

Bradley Cook, 34, pleaded guilty December 11, 2011. From 2006 through 2009, he swapped computer hard drives that contained images and videos of bondage, domination, sadism and masochism, to engage in sex and torture sessions with the victim as well as watch live online sex and torture acts with the victim. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Dennis Henry, 52 (formerly the postmaster of Nevada, Mo.), pleaded guilty March 24, 2011, for having sex with the victim, transporting her over state lines and torturing her. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

James Noel, 47, pleading guilty on February 24, 2011. He got involved with the Bagleys and the victim in 2006 when she was 20 years old. The U.S. Attorney's Office describes his involvement this way: Noel watched the victim being tortured and sometimes operated torture devices himself beginning in 2006. For example, Noel knew that FV hated being electrocuted with a crank phone (which was wired inside FV's vaginal and anal openings and to her toes), which he described as "extremely painful," but he used it on her anyway.
