Rockhurst High School is taking a strong measure to ensure that it has a dry campus in 2013. KCTV Channel 5 reports that the Kansas City school is going to test all of its students for drugs and alcohol at least once a year beginning this fall.

The decision to institute mandatory drug testing at the private school, the first of its kind in Kansas City, was explained to parents and students yesterday. The Board of Trustees approved the measure after two years of evaluating the policy. As Channel 5 noted, an anonymous survey revealed to the board that 176 out of the 1,100 students admitted to using drugs or alcohol at least twice a month. The testing will be paid for out of the student activity fees collected by Rockhurst.
