The Kansas City Museum is a colder place than we thought.

The same afternoon that George Gustello, president and CEO of Union Station, fired Kansas City Museum employee Christopher Leitch - who has been called both director and house director of the Kansas City Museum in different reports - he sent an e-mail to the rest of the Kansas City Museum staff.

The short memo announces that Leitch "will no longer serve as house director at the Kansas City Museum." And it doesn't exactly reassure the remaining staffers about their own job security.

"Denise Morrison will be responsible for all day to day management at the Kansas City Museum," Guastello writes, "and we will be evaluating future staffing needs on house management and programs."

"George Guastello wants to close the museum," another local museum worker (one not employed at Union Station or the Kansas City Museum) tells The Pitch on background. "And trust me, he will."
