It's a sad day for the Kansas City music community: Abigail Henderson, a fixture of the KC scene in such bands as the Gaslights, Atlantic Fadeout and Tiny Horse, died yesterday at the age of 35, after a five-year fight with cancer.

With her husband, Chris Meck, Henderson also cofounded the Midwest Music Foundation, a nonprofit with the goal of making health care more affordable and accessible to local musicians. (The Pitch wrote about Henderson and her struggles in 2008.) If you're interested in donating to the Midwest Music Foundation or learning more about the organization, you can find that information here. Funeral services will be held at Unity Temple on the Plaza this Saturday at 5 p.m.
