In last week's issue, we reported on the Chicago reissue label Numero Group putting out a double LP of tracks from Forte, a KC soul label from the 60s and 70s. As of yesterday, the album is available at record stores all over town. And this Saturday afternoon, one of those record stores, Zebedees RPM, is throwing a party to celebrate the release.

"We'll have a nice stock of Numero records, and about 45 copies of the Forte release for sale," says David Schenk of Zebedees. "I think we're selling the vinyl for just $17.98. And we'll have a few CD copies of it on hand as well."

Outside, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., there'll be DJs playing '60s soul jams, plus two live sets. "Eugene Smiley's Marva Whitney tribute band will play a set," Schenk says. "And so will the Dave Creighton Organization - they're the ones who play outside YJ's during lots of First Fridays."

"It's gonna be a soul shakedown," he says. "It's a big-budget party that I can't afford but I'm gonna do it anyway."
