Spend an evening with good wine, food and art at the 13th annual Corks & Canvas. The benefit for the Good Samaritan Project runs from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight at Studio Dan Meiners (2500 W. Pennway). Tickets are $75.
If you can't find a wine to love at Independence Uncorked, you don't love wine. The wine festival, from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 14, will have 16 wines to sample. In addition to the wine tasting, there will be art, music and food on the grounds of the historic Bingham-Waggoner Estate (313 W. Pacific, in Independence). Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the gate and include a souvenir wineglass.
Gordon Biersch changes its beer with the seasons, and fall brings FestBier, an amber lager. The brewpub also has a few new menu items, including baby beer brats, a pretzel bacon cheeseburger, and a trio of German sausages with sauerkraut-bacon potato croquettes. Gordon Biersch has two area locations: 100 E. 14th St. and 11652 Ash, in Leawood.
The fourth annual Grape Stomp is Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery (16905 Jowler Creek Rd., Platte City). And yes, you can try your foot at being a winemaker.
