  • Moore will scale back his duties at KMBC.
Larry Moore, the beloved longtime news anchor at KMBC, announced last night that his role at the station will be moving into what he's calling an "emeritus" one, effective November 27. He says he wants to spend more time with his grandson, Emmett, and the rest of his family.

"I'm not leaving the station, I'm not retiring, my health is good," Moore told viewers. "However, I have chosen to step away from the demands of a nightly broadcast."

Moore has been anchoring for 40 years at KMBC, which is itself celebrating its 60th year serving the community. KMBC notes that Moore will "continue to share inspiring stories of Dream Factory children, contribute to special news projects, appear at station community events and provide fill-in anchor support."

Best of luck to Moore. No word yet on who will replace him as the 6 p.m. anchor with Lara Moritz.
