The Lonely Biscuits are a surprising band. The Nashville four-piece has two lead singers: One, John Paterini, has a classic pop voice with a smoky, throaty edge (think John Mayer, but not annoying). Grady Wenrich is a talented MC, keeping a relaxed pace to his rhymes and letting the character of his voice shine.
Add in some funk rhythms and blues guitar, and, well, what do you call a band like that? The group's October-released EP Things Sure Have Changed is a sophisticated effort from a group that isn't even out of college yet, but maybe that's an advantage. The Lonely Biscuits recently received mtvU's 2013 Woodie Award, recognizing the best-emerging campus musicians. Here's to hoping graduation doesn't deter the band from a long career in music.
