Tivoli Cinemas reached its Kickstarter yesterday, will continue to be a movie theater

Hooray!
  • Hooray!
When we first heard that Tivoli Cinemas needed to raise $130,000 to switch over to digital projection, we were a little nervous about the art-house theater being able to drum up that kind of money. But apparently the Tivoli has some fans with deep pockets, because yesterday it reached its goal, with an extra $6,000 to spare.

If you're interested in celebrating, you might consider stopping in this weekend. Nebraska opens today; it's the latest from director Alexander Payne, who has yet to make anything less than a very good movie. American Promise, a documentary about the intersection of education and social class in New York City, also has its debut screening today. More here.
