Name
: Patrick Egger

Occupation: Co-owner of Normal Human

Hometown: Shawnee

Current neighborhood: Mission

Occupation: Adjunct art instructor, Metropolitan Community College, Maple Woods

What I do (in 140 characters): I am a maker and a teacher. Most of my energy goes toward art or making prints in some way. I also play drums and love doing gardening projects with Jessica (see "sidekick").

What's your addiction? Late-night Pancho's - the Texano burrito.

What's your game? Bocce ball, golf, pingpong

What's your drink? Boulevard beer all the way. For a while now, it's been a tie between 80 Acre and Tank 7.

Where's dinner? India Palace on 87th Street. It's kind of a drive but worth every mile.

What's on your KC postcard? A full slab of baby back ribs with a large portion of sauce on the side.

Finish this sentence: "Kansas City got it right when ... " It began fostering an environment for the makers of music, art, wears, wares, food, beer, coffee and liquor.

"Kansas City screwed up when ... " It developed places like Town Center Plaza, Zona Rosa and the Legends.

"Kansas City needs ... " To watch out for cyclists and pedestrians when driving!

"In five years, I'll be ... " Running a successful print and retail shop, teaching art, making new work ... if all goes according to plans.

"I always laugh at ... " Funniest Home Videos' montages of people falling down, and our cats, Dottie and Franklin.

"I've been known to binge-watch ... " Game of Thrones, Homeland, True Detective.

"I can't stop listening to ... " Portugal the Man, In the Mountain in the Cloud; Arcade Fire, Neon Bible; and KJHK 90.7's Breakfast for Beatlovers on the Internet.

"I just read ... " The Circle by Dave Eggers. Different last name.

My sidekick: My wife, Jessica, aka Jlo.

My dating triumph/tragedy: Jessica, of course. We started dating eight years ago and got married last October.

My brush with fame: Eighth-grade talent show at St. Joseph grade school. I was the drummer in the band Blind Fate with Peter Burger and Ralph Lopez. We covered Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" (without lyrics!). We had a lot of fans then.

My 140-character soapbox: Smartphones are omnipresent. I saw a guy talking on an iPhone and texting on a second one! Where's the line? People are more disconnected with the now than they think.

What was the last thing you had to apologize for? To Jessica for drinking too much rum and acting a fool at a restaurant in Kauai on our honeymoon!

Who's sorry now? No one now, but I was the next day.

My recent triumph: Working with Dan Mahaney on building our shop, Normal Human, over the last three years and moving it to Westport (opening early summer)! Its exciting to be able to do what I love: drawing and making prints.

Normal Human has moved to 827 Westport Road.
