Best Actress
Peggy Friesen in Wit
Peggy Friesen has always been interesting playing that kind of fragile woman whose eccentricities stamp her as a nut. Who can forget her as Bananas in House of Blue Leaves, where she whimpered like a homesick dog while her husband choked the life out of her, or in Woman in Mind, where her own miserable family prompted fantasies about a beautiful, sane one? She was at her peak, though, in Wit, playing the dying academic whose morbidity makes her truly live.
