Sprint's Thanksgiving Run/Walk
Thousands of Kansas Citians have a Thanksgiving-week ritual that has nothing to do with turkey: They lace up their jogging shoes for the annual Sprint Thanksgiving Race. The race usually offers crisp autumn air, happy runners, walkers pushing baby carriages and grandparents strolling hand-in-hand with grandkids. There's no over-the-river-and-through-the-woods to this dash; the three-mile hike proceeds down the grassy median of Ward Parkway, past stunning homes and stately trees. Afterward, the little ones make a fifty-yard mad dash, and everyone gets a bag of goodies.
