Royals fans who wonder why Angel Berroa strikes out so much should spend some time with Iron Mike. That's the brand of pitching machine used at Mac-N-Seitz Baseball & Softball, a spacious batting space owned by former Royals Mike Macfarlane and Kevin Seitzer. Iron Mike can bring it close to 90 miles an hour, a searing velocity when viewed from the batter's box. Mac-N-Seitz also sets its machines at more remedial speeds (15 pitches for $1.25). Softball players, too, can get in their cuts anytime of year. A mostly indoor facility, Mac-N-Seitz also offers a full infield made of fake turf, dirt pitching mounds, a weight room, a running track and a snack bar.
