Dan's Longbranch Steakhouse
Readers' Choice: Tanner's Bar & Grill
Servers at Dan's Longbranch Steakhouse wear T-shirts that announce "The customer is always wrong." In addition to showing a little attitude, the shirts make a sort of promise that diners won't have reason to complain -- at least not about price or serving size. The Longbranch offers a number of ample and mouth-watering steaks for less than $20. On Tuesdays, $13.99 buys a 20-ounce T-bone and fries. On Saturdays, a plate of 12 ounces of prime rib, homemade mashed potatoes and cheese toast sells for just $15.99. (On a recent visit, the mashed potatoes were flavored with gravy made from beef and chicken. Yum.) A bar as much as it is a restaurant, the Longbranch can be noisy. The wooden booths inflict more pain than comfort, and the decor runs to "Winter is nature's way of saying up yours" signs. But for cheap and juicy slabs of meat, a customer would do very well to go "wrong" here.
