Lately, when the words party and girl are coupled, they evoke an image of some rail-thin blonde who's been up for days with her face buried in a mountain of blow or some dude's crotch. That's not anything we're clamoring to award with a Best Of. Beth Guinta, on the other hand, is definitely medalworthy. The 23-year-old fashion designer is sunshine personified — rays of thick brown dreadlocks frame her warm and lovely face, and the curvaceous beauty is always decked in gorgeous frocks that she designed herself. A lot of Kansas City's social butterflies flutter around one scene, but Guinta is an exception. On Mondays, you'll often find her at the Brick during Brodie Rush's karaoke smackdown, where she brings down the house with a rousing rendition of Salt N Pepa's "Shoop" or the Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace." Guinta doesn't just sing like a star; she shakes it like one, too, usually during Miles Bonny's Feel Sexy Saturdays at the Hangout or on Sundays at the Peanut Downtown's Hip-Hop and Hot Wings. On occasion, we'll bump into Guinta checking out a pal's rock show at the Record Bar. Even with a demanding daytime schedule of work at Crossroads couture house Tomboy and college at UMKC, the girl gets around.
