3125 Wyandotte • 800-361-5686 Eleven years ago, Indigo Wild owner Emily Voth and her husband, Todd, were sitting around, drinking wine and brainstorming names for her new line of soaps. Nothing sounded right. But after a few glasses, Todd had an epiphany. "This is zum bar soap!" he blurted. He meant to say, "This is some bar soap," but his wine-induced mispronunciation stuck. Since then, Zum Bar soaps have become the cornerstone of a growing cosmetics company. Indigo Wild's all-natural, handcrafted products are sold nationwide, and Zum Bar soap is stocked in the guest rooms at the Burj Al Arab, the fancy, sailboat-shaped hotel in Dubai. It's no surprise that Zum is gaining international recognition — the luscious, goat-milk-based soaps are scented with pure essential oils and come in 30 fragrances, from lavender-rosemary to vanilla-sugar. Indigo Wild also offers an array of lotions, oils, candles, lip balm and laundry soap as well as items for babies, athletes, dogs and guys. New item Zum Bum — a "bidet in a bottle" — helps keep your derrière feeling oh-so-fresh. Despite its success, Indigo Wild remains a small, quirky workplace with an anti-corporate feel. In August, its factory and retail shop moved into a bigger space in the old American Ice Building off 31st Street.
